A block of ice results from a physical change of time, temperature, air purity and inside conditions. These parameters change the ice block’s transparency and inside pattern, and as a result of using these parameters, we designed the building facade.
Parameters are translated in the building, such as transparency used on the position of the windows needed for ventilation and light. The façade was designed carefully to control the interior space and view of the exterior by these parameters.
The façade was also optimized to avoid unnecessary and excessive variations in the panel type. The parameters also considered making panels of the façade, with spaces that were carefully controlled to hide the seams between panels. The attachment details were also hidden and located inside the panel, with attachments from outside using 8mm holes for easily screw in the attachments from the outside to be reused for another building without creating any damages while being installed and uninstalled.
Ultimately, the model house is a temporary building used to sell new unbuilt apartments, and as such, this kind of façade system can be applied to another model house with different shapes and proportions in order to build easily and recycle.

대지는 강남의 중심부로 차량과 사람의 보행으로 붐비고, 상업 ,업무, 주거시설이 혼재한 삼성중앙역 사거리에 위치한다.
가로에서 자신을 드러내기 위한 입면, 간판, 광고로 채워진 이 장소에 건축물 자체가 하나의 브랜드 광고가 되어야 하는 하우징 갤러리가 어떻게 드러나야 하는지에 대한 고민이 있었다. 그리고, 바쁘고 복잡한 도시 환경속에서 오히려 조용하게 자신의 메세지를 전달하는 방법을 선택하였다.
“만약 도시의 복잡함이 이 장소에서 멈춰버린다면……”
형태는 가장 단순한 큐브이며, 자연에서 발생하는 동결현상을 표현해 건축과 도시의 관계를 다시 설정해 보기로 하였다. 금속으로 만들어진 입면에 미세한 구멍을 만들고, 내부의 프로그램에 맞춰 구명의 크기와 위치를 변경시켜, 풍경과 빛을 유입해야 하는 공간에는 밀도를 높이고, 차폐를 해야 하는 곳은 밀도를 낮추었다. 그리고, 밀도의 차이를 자연스럽게 조정하여 하나의 통합적인 입면을 구성하였다. 따라서 외부에서는 구멍의 작은 변화들이 만들어내는 통합된 입면으로, 내부에서는 내부 프로그램의 기능에 맞는 입면으로 디자인되었다.
동결현상이 만들어내는 밀도의 차이는 조망점과 주변의 빛 환경에 따라 이차원이 아닌 눌려진 삼차원적인 형태로의 인식의 변화를 만들어 내고, 주변의 업무시설이 어두워지는 밤에는 변화하는 작은 구멍 안쪽에 조명을 설치해, 구멍을 통해 새어 나오는 빛으로 또 다른 자연현상을 표현하였다.
